Disable Interior Light?

RE: Disable Interior Light?
pete, sounds like you're the guy I need to talk to. My light doesn't go out after awhile, so I would like to just remove the bulb. Problem is, the fixture in my car appears to be all one piece. I'm afraid to squeeze the lens too much to try to force it out. How does yours come out? Also for babygurl, what door switch? Were 2000's different from 2002's? I don't have any switch in the door jamb like on earlier models.

Isn't there a switch on your dome light that you can set in one of three ways? OFF, Door, and ON?? My 2000 has that. Mine too shuts off after about 10-20 minutes if I leave my door open. Shut, it stays on all day/night.
Edit: Actually, my 00 doesn't have it. I keep thinkin of my wifes Escape. Been spending more time in it than my car lately with the road trip and all. Sorry for the confusion. [&:]

Nope. On the 02 there are 2 map lights built into the dome light. There is a switch on each side that controls each map light (on and off) but not one for the dome light itself. I guess Ford wanted to save some money that year. Also, as long as the door is open, the light is on.

It is really easy to pull the bulb which is what I usually do whenever I am working on the interior, or cleaning, so the bulb doesn't get hot and burn out. I am getting sick of doing that so I just ordered a dome light dimmer module from www.webelectricproducts.com I can't wait. The theater lighting will now stay on for no more than 20 sec. I have also bought Sequentials from this company, and the passenger one touch down window function, and could not be happier. Best of luck.
