Default Car Shipping?

Im looking at getting a truck im about to buy shipped to CA from NH and wanted to see if anyone knew any places that have really good prices for shipping cars/trucks. I got a quote from DAS for like $938 which is pretty good compared to some other companies wanting $1200+. If you know anything about shipping cars or have expirience with it please chime in

hey man, i work at a classic car dealer and we ship cars all the time. that $938 sounds like a good deal for someone who doesn't really have connections. we just had 4 cars brought out to NC from the Los Angeles area and we paid $3200 for the whole group, which isnt much less each than what you were quoted. I know that some shippers are better than others, but if you dont have a super nice car then you should be fine shipping with about anyone who has a decent reputation. MAKE SURE you get a copy of their insurance before you let them load your car. If something happens and they dont have insurance then you are pretty much SOL.

oh yeah, the quote you got was probably a depot to depot quote and not a door to door quote. which is fine if you dont mind driving a bit to the nearest depot to pick up your car. but door to door will be more expensive but much less hassle.

ryan, do you know if its a valuable investment to pay $150 to make sure the truck is on top? Do you think they would put it on bottom? They have some options and you can pay $150 to have it put on to to avoid getting leaked on by the car above it.

thats up to you, if you think it is worth it. the only thing you have to worry about with it up top is more chances with rock chips and stuff. if the truck is tall enough, then they will more than likely have to put it up top anyways.
