Are Ceramic Brakes really better?
I have a 2004 V6, and it seems like I am ALWAYS having to wash the wheels because they are coated in dust. I was told that Ceramic brakes don't dust up nearly as bad. What is everyone's experience with them? I have 17" Cobra R Chrome wheels, and they just get filthy. Which pads would you suggest I go with for minimum dust, but still have good stopping power? Thanks.
Yea, people seem to love the HP+'s
I am installing a set of AutoZone Duramax Gold Cmax pads on the front of the car once I get to the brake swap part of my front end upgrade and Cobra conversion.
I bought the pads because they were cheap and AutoZone even gave me an extra 10% off (Because of a swaybar endlink quality issue) and they have a lifetime warenty against defect and yes, wear. They will give you a new set every time you go through a set of pads, for life!
Now who knows if that is 100% true without fine print as the whole Orbital Battery scam that I went through was but we will find out. btw, stay away from Orbital batteries, I went through 3 within my warenty, after that they refused to give me a new one. I then put a $30 dollar Wal-Mart bat in there there and havnt had a problem for 3 years now! lol
I will probably have the brakes on this weekend, I broke a tool that I needed to remove the struts so I am just going to get an impact to take the nut off. I will let you know how they turn out.

there is a tech article on here sumwhere about brakes i think it says that ceramic brakes need time to heat up to reach there peak stopping power and are more of a performance pad ive never had a dust problem with my brakes and have always just got the basic autozone pad this was for my first v6 stang and my mountaineer havent changed pads on my cobra since i bought it but i dont think the dealer wouldve put ceramic pads on the car
Here's a link to some tech data about brakes.

I use hawk hps pads. The first time I used them was on my 05 Cadillac cstv. The stock pads were done at less than 20,000 miles and dusted like crap. The hawk pads dusted way less, worked way better and still had pad left when I traded in my car at 89,000 miles.
I use them in my 03 mustang cobra with similar results. They dust much less than the stock ford pad. No problem with cold braking ether.
