Well, i'm assuming by brake oil you mean Dot3 brake fluid? If that is below the line, then I am assuming you have never been to a jiffy lube or other service station that tops off your brake fluid... unless you have done it yourself. It means your brake pads are getting low, when you compress the pistons it will go back up.
If you meant the brake fluid for you clutch... then yea, that could cause you to grind gears... must have a leak.

So your brake fluid being low causes you to grind gears?????Wow thats a first! You dont have a hyraulic clutch setup do you?If you dont which I dont think you do then this has NOTHING to do with grinding

if you do have a hydrolic clutch then this is plasible. The fluid being low could cause the clutch to not totaly disingadge. I know my father 1996 ford ranger has a hydrolic clutch.

go to auto store buy dot 3 brake fluid, put in master cylinder resevoir. brake fluid being low does not cause you to grind while shifting. low clutch fluid does. also use dot 3 brake fluid.
