Default help with odometer

ok people after researching on so many mustangs and friends i see that the 96-98 mustang have problems with the odometer. they just stop counting miles. what is this and how can i fix my car's odometer it is not counting miles it stopped at 70,000 miles do i need to replace the dashboard or is that a problem with the transmision? help info

You just have to replace the odometer gear.

I have a 97 and mine went out along with the tripometer. Every Ford dealer I talk to says I have to replace the whole thing. If you replace the gear, where can we find it and how do you do it?
