Hi,

Did you ever get your battery load tested at an autoparts store? You should also do a voltage drop test on the feed and ground side of the starter circuit so you can rule out the bad wiring....

Did the headlights ever dim when you tried to start the vehicle?

I also forgot to add that starter solenoids rarely are a problem. I have the original starter solenoid on mu 93 Mustang (136k miles) as well as on my 89 Dodge D150 (241k miles).

Just more food for though.

that wire, is that connected to the negative battery terminal?

I can't turn the bolt because you can see the wire in the way. That wire is tough but it is a bit stripped on the end from torquing the bolt to loosen it up. I don't know what to do, I can't turn the bolt to un loosen it, my only option I thought was to cut the wire but I don't know what I'd be doing and the wire is there for a reason. If it is the negative battery wire, I feel like the wire got smashed in by 2 nuts holding it in place that won't seperate. I tried holding the other nut in place but I couldn't. Space is pretty tight underneath the car and I am running out of options.

i would say cut the wire as close as possible to the nut, it looks like there is enough wire to reach it back on if you put another crimp on it afterwards,then see if you can get an open ended wrench in there and wenge it up agaisnt something so you dont have to hold it and then try to loosen outer bolt with the socket,you might have to hammer it on, if that doesnt work i think the only other option is to cut the bolt off and replace it

That is a bolt with a stud extending from the head of it. You either gotta get an open end wrench on the bottom "nut" (which is actually the head of the bolt) so you can hold the bolt from turning while you turn the nut or you have to cut the end off the wire. The wire is a ground wire so you could actually put a new end on it and just attach it to any bolt that is on the engine. Now let me kick you in the nuts a little more. When you get that nut off, if you can't turn that bolt with a wrench, you are probably going to need a deepwell socket to get on the bolt head because your shallow 15 probably won't be deep enough to reach past the stud. Did you unhook your battery before starting this project? Because your positive battery cable is attached to that solenoid and if touch it to anything that is grounded you are going to have a spark shower if you don't have the battery unhooked.
