Default Ford Parts around San Diego!!

hello people. how are you all doing? good good.. question: What the heck is an O2 converter??

I drive a hand-me-down '96 Mustang... the maintenance light keeps coming on even after i got my oil changed... The service shop I went to tried to sucker me into buying an "02 converter" for like 200 bucks. I couldn't tell if they were BSing or not so i said no. they were pretty shady..

I still wanna get this checked out so if anyone from around San Diego cna recommend a good place that would be nice.. this one's close to home...http://www.north-county-ford.com/ But if you know of a better one let me know!

Or at least let me know what an O2 converter is and how much it costs...

Thanks!

Is the check engine light still on? If it is, I would go to autozone and borrow a code reader. see what the code is. That will help you narrow down what is going on. Autozone carries 02 sensors if that is what is needed. If the check engine light is not on because they reset it, drive the car until it comes on and then get the reader.

This site has a code list with possible causes

Good luck

Thanks for the help pkwest. I had no idea you could just borrow a code reader to trouble shoot things. Those guys made me pay for that service. I won't say how much. But yeah the check engine light's still on so i'll probably try autozone. Thanks!
