with a v6 the mileage won't be that bad unless you drive with a lead foot. personally, I would recommend a real stang (v8). a v6 will not burn through gas that fast. Mileage will depend alot on youand your driving habits, not on the car you drive. Some people (import lovers) will say that anything with more than 50 hp will break down, but that's BS and an excuse for why they have a 40 hp japan-o-box. If you like stangs, buy one, and take care of it and it will be fine. many people have stnags with 100,000+ miles.

yea if you want a v6, get a 99. you can get a 1999 v6 with 80k miles or so for under 5500 in perfect condition. i got mine for 5 grand last october. now i have 90k miles and only had to replace the alternator- no mechanical problems whatsoever. a 94-98 v6 is extremely unreliable as far as v6 mustangs. the 94-95 are the worst v6 with many electrical and mechanical problems. i get 25mpg highway and 15 or so city (i have a leadfoot). any mustang with high miles may be beaten up on though. people ride them hard so be careful, but overall, a 99+ v6 stang is a great choice for reliability, efficiency, and acceptalbe power.

I have a 2000 v6 and I love my car. It's a mustang, which is what I have always wanted, so I don't care.
I agree with the above, that a 99+ v6 is your best bet. You can get a 99-00 for like 5 grand and in great condition. No problems with them, and they're pretty good on power. Gas mileage is good for me... I've never felt like I've been wasting gas as compared to my old car, which was a 4 cyl. It all depends on how hard and how much you drive it. Plus, you can get a cheap CAI and improve MPG by a few miles for cheap.
I'd say it's a good start for a mustang, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

first a v6 is a real mustang the 94 - 98 were a little slow but its enough power for an 18 year old i creamed plenty of cars in my 96 (mostly from a roll) and its also good on gas and insurance. oh and if you should go late model 2000+ because 99 had some issues too. yes unleaded only at least mid grade, and i dont know killometers.
