Default HID Kit/Blackout tint

I'm looking at putting in an HID conversion kid from StangMods (12000K for the headlights and 6000K foglight). I also want to totally black out all exterior lights and the side markers with some spray-tint (niteshades or smoked tint from AmericanMuscle).

I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience or advice with any of the above. I'm still on the fence with the bulb heat..not sure if I want to go with a more traditional look (6000K/6000K), an import look (8000K/4300K), or the above which is just exotic and unusual (12000K/6000K). I also don't want to tint my headlights/foglights and then not even be able to enjoy the HID's. I figured that an HID kit will be more than bright enough to shine through a thin layer of tint, and I know during the day a white mustang with blacked out windows and lights is going to look really sharp.

Thoughts?

I have smoked head and fog lights with 5k hids in the heads and 6k hids in the fogs. They shine through clear and bright like they weren't tinted.

Good to hear! Did you use vinyl/plasic premade covers or did spray-on tint?

From most of what I've read online it seems the prefab covers often don't fit right, and of course don't allow any choice in how dark. On the flipside it's nice to have something that isn't permanent..

I mean I really have no clue. I've never owned a car with HID's, and never really seen any colors on the road besides blue/white or yellow. I don't want it to look stupid but at the same time I want it to look unique.

I am now leaning more towards a white or blue/white color for the headlights...and the foglights...i really dunno. Yellow looks sharp but everyone has that (and I think it's too import - I'm driving a mustang I dont want it to look like a civic).

I guess I just need to google some different cars with HID's. I want to get something that I will like, and I'm not too worried about looking ricey because I've got enough work done under the hood that its a pretty mean car on its own.

But any opinions or experience is totally welcome. This is all new to me.

I think I'm going to go with pure white headlights (it'll look sharp with my white paintjob) and either 10000k or 12000k fogs

Tints can alter (filter) out the color as well, generally making the output overall more yellow or brown. I'd personally recommend using 55w HID, true 55w HID, so that you get the most output you can form the colors you go with, as the tints will diminish the output as well.

That's interesting. You guys also offer 5000k, is that a purer white than 4300?

I have never heard of the 55w or digital tech, I honestly don't know much about any of this. I appreciate all the input so far, but does anyone have personal experience with any of these kits?
