the 00-04 mustang gt models and the 1999 mustang gt model thinkin about getting a 99 gt

 

Auto or manual tranny? Somewhere in 02 they changed the Manual tranny (T5 to a 3850) and from what i've heard the 3850 is not as durable as the T5. There are also a number of recalls on the early 99 models that were taken care of by the time 00 and forward came out. I would get between an 00 and mid 02 unless you go auto..then I don't know.

 

in addition to that stuff I think it's mostly the same, some switches are in different spots (rear defrost, fog lights) on certain years, and from 02 up, they have the fake scoops on the hood and sides of GTs. And spoilers are different from 02 up. I think 03 has an electric antenna, before that it was fixed.

 

There is basicly no difference ... and you were misinformed about that manual tranny. The last year of the T5 Tranny was 95, 96-98 have an improved tranny called the T45 and the 99-04 have a T56 from what i recall

 

manual 99-04 GT's had 5 spd trannys and a T56 is a 6 spd tranny.

 

arnt the heads in the new modles a lot better as well?


i think there is definatly more hp in the 03-04 GTs

The T-56 only comes in the 03-04 cobras and E saleens and 351s no GT came with it
