I would recommend cover any wire connections that might get wet. Nothing like misfiring when your plug wires get wet. Also I recommend running your engine til it gets to normal operating temp, shut it off, then wash it. Dirt and grease will come off easier.

some say to run it some say not to, personally if i ever wash my motor i think ill keep it running sometimes after u spray water on the warm motor it wont turn over for a little while u have to let the water dry

umm did you put simple green on there before you power washed it? I left my car running when i did mine and it made a really big difference too.
looked like a brand new motor when I got done.

I actually used a product called Cindet...Its a low sud degreaser wax stripper soap with warm water....I ran my car while I did it..I am always worried about the water on the hot block while running though...

ok so people have run it and its fine, i have hear that a hot block will absorb the soap and screw **** up, but i guess that hole bunch of wires on the right hand side of the engine get covered up anything else

Ya that is some shiny rustYou should have the motor running when cleaning and dont worry about covering anything everything is able to get wet without problems.After I wash mine I spray all the black with foaming tire shine and it looks awesome you should try it
