Default Compressors

Other than one type needing lube in the refrigerant, and the others not..

Are compressors vehicle-specific?

Some compressors need lubrication in the refrigerant.
Others are self-supplying.

After taking that one thing into account, can I take a compressor from any R134A vehicle, and put it in my vehicle? Or would other things need to be changed: evaporator, TXV, pipe diameter, condenser, dryer, electrical?

most compressors are specific to a vehicle or manufacturer. i have never run across a compressor that isnt lubricated by pag oil in a r134a system. In my experience all ac compressors are lubricated by oil in the refrigerant. dont know where you are coming up with "self supplying". I think trying to makes the wrong compressor work would be a bigger hassel than just installing the correct unit.

IIRC, Scroll Type compressors are self-lubricated.
