HELP HELP
2003 Mustang GT Standard
Was Driving home heard loud screech then loud pop.
Car Died
all accesories work lights radio etc
battery checked.. good
Wont start when I turn the key i hear a pop and nothing happens.
We tried to pop cluch while being towed but rear tires just lock up and no start. car wont even turn over..
please help guys thanks

Similar to what Doodleson said...
Sounds like it could be a hydro-lock - and that would be bad news. If a cylinder fills with fluid it can't compress (like air/fuel does) when the piston goes up during a compression cycle. So when the engine gives that piston a push it will usually bend or break the rod for that piston, and that's a big PIA repair, and a bigger PIA bill. Fluid can get into the cylinder from different places, but is commonly from a cracked intake manifold.
I'm not saying that's the answer... just a possibility. Good luck.

First thing to check is whether the engine can be rotated by hand. Use a long ratchet or breaker bar on the snout of the crank and try to rotate it.
If it moves, than you can start diagnosing the internals and possibly the heads. You can also check the condition of the oil- note the color, smell and presence of any metal particles.
If it doesn't move, then the screeching you heard was the belt slipping as the engine slowed suddenly and the pop was something internal letting go.
