Cams for an 02 GT
I got a 2002 GT WIth full exhaust, cold air intake, and sum other basic things i was just wondering if i could install cams on it this stock or do i need something else. If i can wat kind of cams would u suggest.
You can install cams on it stock, but the cost vs hp gain will be outrageous. Most likely you'll need a tune to safely run the aftermarket cams, plus any modification you install after that will mess it up, unless you tune the car rich.
25-30 rwhp over stock peak, more at 6k rpm... VT stage 1 NA cams. Do it yourself it'll cost around $600, no tune needed. Install costs around 350 usually. fWont get full power unless tuned though, probably alittle rough idle until tuned as well.

For Stage 2, It requires 2400+ stall, and 3.55+ gears. Intake, Exhaust, Computer Upgrade, and Spring Recommended.
I have 3.73 gears
I have intake
I have exhaust (minus headers, which Id buy LT's)
Computer, Now Upgraded computer mean "tuned" computer, or Aftermarket computer replacement?
If valve springs werent purchased, would this do any harm?
thanks guys.

main concern with the springs is the revving capability. More lift with the stage 2's = more clamping force needed for higher revs. The stage 2's are designed for shifting above 6500rpm... not a good idea with stock springs.

I know that
Im asking "If valve springs werent purchased, would this do any harm? " with stage 2 cams.

Yes, they need springs because like said above, stg.2's are meant to go to 6500 which isn't smart on stock springs.
So yes, get the springs, or you'll regret it later.
Computer upgrade means chip and dynotuned. Stg.1 requires no spring and no tune. Although a tune will get you a few more ponies. My advice is that with the auto if it's a daily driver get the stg.1's. The stg 2's only make more power than the 1's at 6000-6500. Which on an auto would go to high and not take full capability of the powerband.
