Default Roll cage help

Hi there guys I am looking to possibly get a roll cage done in the next year, maybe more but I thought I would start the research. I have a 2000 coupe and would like it to be rear only with possibility to be more later and would like it to be removable just in case I need to do work to something.

Don't bother, it won't be legal at any track. Is your car even fast enough to NEED a roll bar?

why would it not be a track cage? I am not doing it for a show cage, it will be getting certified.

Rear only, by that I assume you mean a 4 point, which is not NHRA legal, you need a min. of 5 points (4 rear and 1 drivers side bar) but most do a 6 point (driver and passenger door bar). Swing out bars are legal if done right. Do you want a bolt in or weld in roll bar? Bolt ins are not ideal IMO, but if done correctly are NHRA legal (depending on fast your car is). What I suggest is that you buy an NHRA rule book, decide on fast you want to go and follow the guidelines for your bar from there. NHRA is very strict when it comes this stuff, as they should be.

I used to run a four point Autopower with a cross bar with no issues??
When did the 5 point rule happen?
And there are other types of racing that require only a four point.

The oldest NHRA book I have is from 2005 and it is in there. Maybe the tech at your track was going easy, I don't really know, but at my local track (RT 66 in Joliet IL) they stick to the rule book to a T. Why bother doing a roll bar if it is not going to be 100% correct?
