91 Mustang LX power window problem
The short version: Driver side window works fine up and down. Driver side switch for passenger window doesn't work up or down. Passenger side switch only rolls window up..not down. Motor rebuilt works outside car up and down.
The details:
O.K. so my passenger side window quit working so I pulled the motor out. I tested it with a 12v adapter and it works both ways once I got it out. I replaced the 3 little plastic pieces because they were destroyed inside it. Put it back in and it now it will only go up but not down. I changed the switch to another one and still the same thing. It goes up really fast but will not go down. I tried hitting the motor with the 12V adapter while it was in the door and it only moves up but really slow. Sometimes it will move down a little bit and then stop when using the 12v adapter. I've greased the regulator and slide good.Any clues in the wiring I should be looking at? or a problem with the regulator? Thanks in advance.

Get your multimeter on the passenger side power window motor connector. You should have 12 volts in one direction and neg 12 volts in the other direction.
Then chase it right to the driver's side switch.
Sounds like you have more than one problem. To verify the passenger side motor and regulator are ok. Just jump 12 volts directly to the motor. Then reverse it for the other direction.

Thanks that took me in the right direction. I was taking out the drivers side switch when my passenger window rolled down but then stopped and the switch wouldnt work again. I pulled out both switches and swapped them and I noticed that one of the poll contacts was really loose. I used a small screwdriver to push them together and wedged the switch back in. Who would have guessed it was just a loose contact!!! Thanks both of my windows now work. =)
