Default 94 Mustang GT with Nos

Hey everyone. New to the forum. I don't even have a Mustang but i'm looking into buying one. I found a 94 GT with 59,000 miles for under 6 grand. Now this seems to good to be true. I noticed it had a Nitrous Oxide Systems sticker on it. I assume it was setup with NOS at some point but cannot tell (not that i even know what to look for) from the pictures. Basically what i'm asking is, is the engine beaten up from this? I've heard that running nos through an engine can cause severe wear to the pistons. Of course this is all coming from the same guy, so i need another opinion. Please help, i'm not very knowledgeable outside of the basics of auto mechanics. Thanks!

if the kit was installed correctly, timing was removed and the correct fuel was added, nitrous is perfectly safe. if set up incorrectly nitrous can ruin a motor really quick.

do you have pics we can see of the motor?

are you sure its 59k miles and not 159k miles?

welcome to the forum

nitrous if run PROPERLY is not overly harmful to the car. it is a small amount of added wear and tear but when PROPERLY ran, and tuned, it is very safe and cars can last a very long time. my buddys cobra had almost 200k miles and more bottles than i can count run thru it.

about the only way to tell (other than asking the owner) if the car was run on the gas is to check around the intake tube and the manifold for anywhere where a nitrous jet was put in then capped off. you can replace the tube and there is zero evidence of nitrous tho. so just because theres no hole doesnt mean anything, but if there is a hole its almost guaranteed, but not a reason not to get the car either.

and a lot of ricers (even american car guys) put nitrous stickers on their car. doesnt mean it ever even had nitrous on it. get it checked out (compression check and everything) and if its cool then have at it.

Yeah lots of bench racing geeks stick just a nawwzzz sticker on their car but never plumb a kit in.

Can't you talk to the previous owner? Any used Stang "could have" been abused by the previous owner & having nawzz doesn't automatically mean anything.. FYI nawzz is illegal to use on the street.

Default Thanks

I'll definitely have it checked out before i buy it, but i wasn't even going to consider it if what i had heard to be true was. Thanks again! I'm not sure if i can post a link to all the photos of this car or not but i'll give it a shot.

Personally, i hate the racing stripes, but the car overall looks like a deal. Tell me what you think. What i should watch out for and so on. Were there any significant problems with the '94s?

looks like it definately has the nitrous still hooked up to it lol. that bieng said, i would have the car dealer do a compression and leak down test on the motor. if that checks out good then you should be fine. it doesnt look to me like the previous owner would have cheaped out on a tune, everything about this car is in great condition for bieng 16 years old so someone obviously cared about it, but you never know till its checked out.

btw, i would get them down more cuz 6k is a little much for a 16 year old car (and tell them with nitrous on it, make a stink about it)
