Edelbrock Performer 289 Suggestions
I am replacing my cast manifold on my 302 '74 Ford Boat engine with an Edelbrock Performer manifold. Any recommendations on torque, sealants, etc. would be appreciated. The engine came stock with 351 heads.

I found this Edelbrock installation set on the web at:

I use black magic silicone sealant. A light smear on both sides of the gasket around the water passages. And then a bead of it front and rear instead of the cork pieces that come with the gasket.
Follow the torque sequence in the book. Do it 4-5 times, as each time you do it, the manifold will settle.
I also like to put a bit of sealant around the shafts of the bolts before I slide them in. Prevents oil from rising up out of the valley and making a mess on the manifold.

.boB,
Thanks for those tips. The gasket took the 4-5 times rep to get it to seat. I like the silicone idea on the bolts. It probably gives enough lubrication to make sure the torque is uniform. Do these need re-torquing later on?
