Default Helping a Friend

Little bit about me...GM guy, driving a '01 WS6 Trans Am.

A friend has a 98 GT. When he gets on it, and shifts around 4500 RPM's, he throws the belt. He's changed the balancer, nothing, changed the tensioner, nothing, returned it. He's coming by my house tomorrow so we can take a look at it, and as I am not as intimate with the 4.6 as some of you are, I figured I would throw a post up to see if this is an issue, and possible remedies.

I read about some tensioner kit that ford racing has, but I am not sure that will fix this. Please be as detailed as possible. Thanks in advance.

Only thing I can think of is to make sure the belt is on there tight, start up the car and see if any of the pulleys are wobbly. Has he replaced the belt recently? If so the store may have accidently given him the wrong belt. He may need one a tad bit shorter.

Does he have aftermarket pullies? If so, make sure they are in line with each other. That will sling a belt.

Though I don't know the answers to these questions, keep them coming. It will help me figure out and fix the problem that he got tomorrow. Thanks again.
