Default Day Time Running Headlights (Foxbody)

Im from Canada, and we have DRL's in all of our cars, I was wondering if anyone knew how to defeat this option.

I want just my inner and outter signal and park lights to be on when my headlight switch is flipped ahead to its first setting.

Is this possible, well.... anythings possible, I'm just having a hard time finding any information on performing this task.

Thanks.

I thought the DRL started in 92.
Any concerns for the saftey aspect of it. I have a 93 with DRL's. I agree it just looks proper with just the parking lights on but I also like the saftey aspect of it.

There is probably a separate module hidden somewhere that they added to Canadian cars. Try to find it and unplug it.

Im in the process of looking for said module.

For the time being, I just pulled the Green with Black stripe wire going into the headlight bulb connector, its for the highbeams/DRL's.

Everything is working the way I want it to with this wire pulled, I just don't have highbeams. This will work until I buy new OEM replacement headlights, as some of my adjusters are broken, so the highbeams are useless anyway.

Ill keep looking so I know for future reference.

Yeah, safety wise, I'll just turn my headlights on when its raining or too dark, I do need to see, lol.

Yeah simple. Just pull on your parking brake

Everything on my car is either new, or has less then 80,000KM's (49,000Mi). So pulling the E-brake lever one click actually drags really hard and almost stops the car.

So, no dice on that option.

As crazy as it sounds. Maybe the parking brake will get you what you want.
How about grounding the parking brake wire. This will defeat the DRL's without actually engaging the mechanism.

As for saftey, the dark and raining is the obvious here. That's not what DRL's are for.
You are actually supposed to use your headlights for those conditions.

DRL's are for improved visibility in the daytime for other driver's to see you. Statistially they reduce accident's. I think defeating them looks cool too but I'd rather throw the dice at avoiding accidents.
