I just bought my first mustang, its a 1995 gts 5 speed w/ 60k. I love it already but there seems to be an issue with it. first off I changed the oil before it left the trailer and checked fluids. It seems to lack power and accelerate slowly
on my way back from putting fresh gas it for a moment accelerated waaay harder than usual. so now the fun begins trying to find out what is bad..... any help is appreciated

mods are cold air, and edelbrock upper and lower intakes, steeda wires and some other smaller stuff

 

your injectors need to be cleaned and check and clean your plugs and wires... I had a 92 probe that had the same problem... cleaned out the injectors and cleaned up the plugs and wires and she ran like a champ... you probably should have completely drained the gas out unless it was already extremely lowbecause if you mix the bad gas with good gas your gonna have acceleration problems till you run it all through or drain it anyway... check your fuel pump and filter and replace whatever needs to be replaced also

 

i would also replace the fuel filter.

you said you "checked" the other fluids, you SHOULD change your radiator fluid and everything else tho also. just because its full doesnt mean its good.

 

I knew I shoulda drtained the gas but was bein lazy... How do I go about cleaning an injector? I will be getting plugs and flushing rad tomorrow.

 

I researched the injector cleaning, I guess ill try it tomorrow

Drained gas and coolant, replaced cap,rotor and fuel filter, plus did the seafoam thing. car does run better but is still lagging especially over 3500rpm seems to pull decent until that then takes for ever!

Bought plugs but didnt do them yet, seems like something isnt right....injectors?

 

How bad is this acceleration? 95 GT's are pretty slow.
Hope I'm not offending anyone with that because there was a time I liked 94-95's. Test drove one. Thought it was slow, then looked up the acceleration times. Situation normal.

Get the codes read. This will really narrow down the guessing game.

 

its bad, I understand this isnt a 11 sec car but when i try and run out 1st gear it takes 3 or four seconds to go from 3500-5500 and secong gear barely revs out all the way.theres something wrong, can there be codes if theres no engine light on? the car sounds runs good til u step on it then it breaks up.

Barely squeaks tires in first gear...... injectors? MAF? people have said both. can the timing not be advancing? im lost

 

Fixed it!!!!!!!!! disconnected my maf and POW!!! spins tire and chirps second!!!!!! so pumped, was gonna take out injectors tomorrow am and try cleanin em. now ned a new MAF
