Default Carb question?????

Anyone else ever wanted to take a sledge hammer to an Edelbrock 650? This thing is driving me nuts.

I only dislike one minor thing about an Edelbrock 650. Had one on my truck. Since it was not driven every day. It would take a few seconds of cranking to fire it up. I replaced it with a Holley and now it will spark to life with just a blip of the starter. Sitting for hours or weeks.

Aside from that, it idled mint, power was good, no bog, etc.

What problems are you having?

Edelbrocks are notoriously difficult to tune throttle response on, but otherwise they're reliable and work well.

My throttle response is very poor and it runs rich not matter what I do. I was wondering if it needed to be rebuilt. It came on my car and it is the first edelbrock I have had. I would trade it for a Holley in a heart beat. Thanks

well I just took it apart and got the answer I have been looking for. Has two bent needle valves. The previous owner said he took it apart to clean it aparently he wasn't careful when he put it back together. Off to go get a rebuild kit.
