I talked to a guy that removes dents for a living a while back.. He said that they do work.. however you have to get the real thing.. which costs thousands.. He said the cheap-o ones are just scams. Of course, his job is removing dents.. lol.

It was cool watching him work on my door.. He stuck these rods down into the window slot and "massaged" the dent out. No painting needed cost? $70 but he also got a dent behind my side scoop out for only 20 more.. and a dent out of the benz's door for 15.
