Default H.I.D.'s wont stop flickering

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this issue I'm having. I have a 2010 Mustang and I had H.I.D.'s installed 2 weeks ago to replace my headlights. Right when I turned them on I noticed the driver side was flickering a lot. The guy at the shop told me he ran a power check and only found 10% power on my driver side (Which I thought was B.S. and on top of that I asked him if he ran across this issue why didn't he call me to give me the option of just saying forget it I don't want the H.I.D.'s?)

Anyways I questioned him and asked him if they were bad ballast's and of course he said no. So I had my friend switch out the ballast and the driver side was fine, then the passenger side started flickering. So I had that one replaced as well. But it's still flickering and now it completely went out.

My friend is going to try another ballast again and see if that works. So I currently put my stock headlight bulbs back in, my question is do you think it's just the ballast that's causing the flickering? Or is it something else? Anyone that's had this problem and fixed it I'm sure can help me out or give me some insight on what to do. Or if anyone in general knows what I can do please let me know, thanks guys & girls.

I think I have your answer. Since you live in California, the HID's are refusing to work because It's against the law to use them in Cali. The Bulbs know this.

Which company did you get the HID's from and how much did they cost?

I can understand a Pre 06 model going with aftermarket HID since they weren't offered on the car. Why not get them from the factory though for a new car (as an option)?

I have OEM HID on my car and never had a single problem.

I believe they're called O-Nex. My friend said the ballasts from that brand are defective so they have new one's that need to be switched out. So he's trying to get those for me. $120 installed is what I paid. And my friend is doing all this switching out for free...

And I've never had this problem before with the last 2 cars that I had a HID conversion kit installed.

They're probably ridiculously over-priced from the dealer though.

Factory option was $500 and it's covered for the warranty of the car. My time is worth more than the price difference in fiddiling with something aftermarket for my headlights.
How much time has been spent on "fixing" the aftermarket headlights?

If you have someone that does the work for you for free. Take advantage of it. Otherwise I don't mind paying extra to not have to worry about it. Not saying OEM is always the way to go but on some things it is. Less hassle.

Oh and if you didnt' buy them WITH the car, don't go to the dealer, it's more expensive to buy the parts than to have bought the option to begin with.

What I meant is, why didn't you buy them as an installed option when you bought the car?
