?? FLYWHEEL TO CRANK -- MOUNTING ORIENTATION ??
I pulled the flywheel off the crank without first making reference markings for the re-installation. Realizing that this is a balanced rotating assembly that was a brain fart on my part. Please, I would like to know:
--> Are there ANY reference features or markings on the flywheel & crank that I can use to properly mate the two together in their original orientation to each other? ?
Below are my notes on Features that may have relevance:
* CRANK: The only feature on the rear face of the crank is a countersunk hole that is on the same bolt diameter as the six threaded holes and cylindrically 30 degrees from the nearest mounting hole.
* FLYWHEEL: The most obvious reference marking is a punch mark, about 1/8" diameter, on the rear face of the flywheel and almost tangential to one of it's six clearance/mounting holes. ("Rear" means the side facing, or closest to, the back end of the car).
THE CAR: A completely stock (no mods) 1987 Mustang 5.0 with the original flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, etc. (i.e. it's the original unit that came with the car when I drove off the showroom floor in 1987).
Thanks in advance.
