i have a 1968 mustang with a very old very tired 302 smogger that was put in before i bought the car. I found a 5.0L HO out of a 1992 cougar in a wreckers. On the car craft website these 5.0L HO engines made 278HP with a dual plane intake and carb and no other mods. I am thinking of doin a swap as the current engine has a edelbrock performer intake and a 600CFM holly carb. Are there any other junkyard finds that i should be aware of. I know of the explorer and mustang cobra GT40P heads but are there any others i should know about? Also what type of numbers do you think i will lay down with this new engine? I have a C4 tranny and an 8 inch ford with 3.73 gears. Any help is appreciated. Thanx

the h.o motors are strong as they come...dam near bullet proof..for a small motor they do good...the h.p rated is when they are new...im think ing maybe a 14.50 sec or simliar e.t at the drags...swap out the heads for a better than stock heads..add a little more cam and 13.50;s are easy to get...speed cost money..how fast do you want to go
