Default CAI. Totally Different Type of Question

Even though its named cold air intake its not really colder air entering the engine its faster air. Right? I was wondering if setting up one of those heat shields around the tubing of the CAI to keep some of the heat produced by the engines away. would have help in making the air entering the car a bit cooler or is that just a completely stupid idea.

took photo out. it threw the topic of course

Zinc, i wouldnt think it would be a great idea to just leave them bags of ice in there while driving. I mean its all metal intake from the looks of it and the metal will hold the cold for a lil while. Btw, do you have a blower?

Its called a Cold Air Intake cause, it's supposed to take air from the fender which is cooler than the air in the engine bay. CAI has somewhat become a generic term for an aftermarket intake. Like Coke is for soft drinks.

you'll screw something up running with water all over your engine bay. if it did work, you'd get good performance though. a cai is supposed to get cooler air and get it with less restrictions.

Well, no. It will not work. The whole engine bay is warm while the engine is running. Therefore, the CAI filter is taking in warm air. You can not prevent this without some kinda air cooler, cooling the air before it enters the tube. It's really not worth it. It will always be a WAI (warm air intake).

If your "cold air kit" is sucking from the engine bay it is taking in warm air. If it is sucking from the fenderwell, it should be sucking in air at the outside temperature.
