If your "cold air kit" is sucking from the engine bay it is taking in warm air. If it is sucking from the fenderwell, it should be sucking in air at the outside temperature.

Well, no. It will not work. The whole engine bay is warm while the engine is running. Therefore, the CAI filter is taking in warm air. You can not prevent this without some kinda air cooler, cooling the air before it enters the tube. It's really not worth it. It will always be a WAI (warm air intake).

RE: CAI. Totally Different Type of Question
My point is, that is restricted. You will only get so much air. Thats why dragster stangs take out their passenger side head light (so cool air will flow good into their CAI.) Your never really getting cold air. That one case might be different though.
*It's illegal to have your passenger side headlight removed while driving on the street*
