Code 34

Code 34
Car: 93 Notchback
Symptoms: Car intermittently loses power and begins to hesitate and buck. Small backfire can be heard coming from the CAI tubing.
Based on the code 34: EGR Valve Position (EVP) sensor or Pressure Feedback EGR (PFE) senor: signal voltage above closed limit during normal engine run operation OR signal indicates insufficient EGR flow.
Before I ran the code scan I thought it might be the fuel pump, so replaced pump and filter with new ones.
After the code scan I replaced the EVP sensor, but still getting code 34. I’m thinking about replacing the EGR valve next.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

RE: Code 34
EGR Valve is cheap, about $50. You should also replace the tubing that does to EGR valve, those are notorious for braking. Buy valve from autozone and tubing from ford dealer.
ALSO: After many years of pooping exhaust gases into your intake, your EGR no doubt left deposits in your intake. Remove upper intake to where EGR valve connects, and remove EGR valve, and clean the passages, you might as well port and polish your intake if you have a dremmel. It is possible that those passages are full and after cleaning you could reuse your valve, but more likely than not EGR valve is bad too.
