5.0 or LX

5.0 or LX
I have the chance to purchase either a 5.0 GT hatchback or a LX coupe 4 banger. I have a mildly built 302 to drop in the coupe. They are both 89 models i belive. I love the hatchback body style, but i have heard that the LX coupe is lighter. What choice would u make? This will be a street/strip car.

Coupe is lighter and usually a little more rare - at least they are around here because everyone seems to have the hatchbacks.
Personally I like the hatches, but if I was going to build a street/strip machine, the coupe would be the platform to choose because of the little bit of weight savings.

well i have had both and the notch is noticably lighter, also i like the way that the notch feels better but there is more room in the hatch. i would get the 50 thought because if you get the 4 banger then there is a lot more stuff to change over for a 302 swap

There is no rare fox body stang except mabey a 87 T-top stang Thats it.....I'd buy the 5.0 your gonna spend a ton of money doing the conversion and if you havent bought anything why not just start with the 5.0?

As for actual rare Foxes, there's a many versions that are rare to extremely rare out there: the "7-Up" Stangs, '83 and '84 2.3L GT Turbo convertibles, '83 and '84 5.0L GT convertibles, '93 Cobra and Cobra R, the SVOs, '84 20th anniversary specials, '79 Pace Car...... shall I continue? hehe

Since he said it will be a DRAG/STRIP car - I'd go for the notch. Its lighter, and since its a 4 banger that you plan to swap out and build yourself, well isn't that the ultimate project car [&:] If you want looks, for the GT - if you want a drag project go for the notch.
