so i have a 67 cougar i just got, has a 351w in it, wasn't assembled so that got done today. got it to fire up and run.

my questions,
1-the car has a distributor wired off a ballast resistor choked down to 6v, but I don't know the year of the 351w, it does have a points distributor. how do i know if it is appropriate to be on that ballast resistor wire or needs 12volts? does the depend on the coil, dist., or engine?

2- is there any kind of electronic ignition i can replce this points distributor with? i hate points.
