02 GT Shifting and Engine Question
Hey guys/gals. I'm a new comer looking for some help, and it seems a lot of you know your stuff.
I have a 2002 GT Manuel and practically everything is stock except for the exhaust and the cool air intake system. I did not put these into the car and i bought this car used. Its got almost 100,000 miles on it and seemed to run fine for awhile. I know I ride the clutch a little too much durring take off's (if you have any pointers for that as well please let me know) but I've starting noticing it is become very stiff and hesitant to shift from gear to gear. This is espcially happening from 1st to 2nd. Reverse is a pain at times to engage but i've researched and it seems that this is a common thing. Shifts can be very smooth at times and at others i wonder if it engaged all the way so that i dont grind gears letting the clutch out. Does my clutch need to be adjusted? Or is there something I'm missing. Also I am hearing a loud humming noised coming from the front of the car, I'm currently planning on cleaning the IAC as the idle RPM falls and rises, but i was wondering could this have anything to do with it? When i turn on my heat it seems to get louder after that.
I love my car guys and i wanna make her scream but before I start doing what most kids with stangs do, mod the crap out of them only to destroy them faster, i wanna get to know what would be making simple things like this happen. Thank you for any input you can supply me with.
