Default emissions problem, Please Please help me..

Hello all, I have a 2006 Mustang gt and I will not pass emissions, the emissions paper said (Heated Oxygen Sensor) NOT READY. There is no check engine light on and I believe that the previous owner may have put a program or a tune on the ecu but not 100% sure. Is there anything I can do to make the car pass? I have been driving the car for a yr like this and have over 10 tickets, its my only vehicle I have to drive. If any one has any suggestions please help me out. Thank you for all of your time.

Not sure what to help you out with there with 10 tickets man, wow, but have you recently disconnected the battery? Usually NOT READY means that it hasn't had enough cycles or miles since the last battery disconnection. You cannot just disconnect it/reconnect it and then go back to the inspection station. It has to run through enough cycles and miles.

That said, it wouldn't hurt to hook up to an OBD2 checker and see if there are any codes. You can do this for free at Autozone or O'Reilly.

If the previous owner 'tuned' it and had the O2 sensors shut off, you'll need to have them turned back on in order to pass.
