Default Some advice...

Ive inherited the family Mustang. Its a 3.8l with over 150k on the odo. It was leaking coolant all over the place. So I took the engine out, have it on an engine stand. Sent the heads to a automotive machine shop. And, was planning on dipping the block in acid.Honing the cylender walls, getting new piston rings/bearings and camshaft bearings. But, I just noticed a hole in one of the freeze plugs. Should I just replace the freeze plug, put the car back together and be done with it. Or, send the block to a machine shop and continue as planned. I have the oil pan and timing cover off. The inside of the motor looks pretty clean and solid.

Also what would cause a hole in a freeze plug. Its not corrodid or anything looks like a whole was punched in it. Kinda strange really. Its the plug right behind the driver side engine mount.

You could throw a stroker kit at it while its apart with a mild cam and take your time to gasket match port the heads if you have the money, it will provide a nice bump in power.

not maintaining the coolant could of caused the freeze plug to pop
