Smile Just bought a 2004 got tranny question

Hey everyone

Just snagged up a 2004 GT 5 speed

well I don't know much about cars yet - but hoping to soon enough.

my first question is the transmission on this mustang.

first second and third gear make a noise similar to reverse? - I cannot tell anything is wrong with those gear though - I'm hoping its some kinda shift kit?

What do you mean the transmission on this car?

Try google for 2004 mustang 5 speed and your engine. You may have luck that theres not a few different ones, and try a picture.

Not sure if vin would help with trans exact model.

The noise, is it like a clunking kinda? If mustang transmissions are like I've been told (We have a automatic however I've always bought manual cars) could be the syncro's

Try shifting into 1st or 5th before reverse I was always told, one of my prior cars would make a loud bang into reverse, and occasionally into other gears which was totally normal for it's transmission due to no syncro for reverse and I've done that for a few dozen other types of cars.

I'm sure someone can shed light on your other gear issue. Have you checked fluid? that can cause funky issues
