Default Cobra Comp Cams?

Asking for educated opinions on installing bigger cams in my Mustang.
Lets face it, a mustang at idle, hitting a mean lick, is just about the best sound ever. I want to install a set on mine. Here are the details of my car and what im looking for, tell me what you think is best.
'99 SVT Cobra 4.6L, 150,000 miles, every now and then it puffs a dab of smoke on start-up if it has been sitting a while, and it uses a little oil, this can be expected since the car has been a everyday driver since it was new. I recently purchased it from a friend and it is my weekend toy. So, to further tell you some concerns... The battery will drain down if i leave the cables attached and it sits for 3 or more days. Not a problem, i unhook the cable when not driving regularly. Any suggestions to that problem? Ok, any time setting still and let out on clutch there is a "bump" in the rear end. The "bump" happens as the "slack" is let out. Any ideas on that? Ok, starting to sound like i have a hunk of junk, no? Any how, I want to put a bigger set of cams in it, do you think it is worth the time, effort, and money to upgrade my car with this many miles and, some would say, problems?
This is my first 'stang, but i have always loved them. Please give my some input, personal experiences, worthy advice, or professional tips. Thank you!

Also to add, the car is all stock except K&N air filter and Flowmaster exhaust.
