Default Mods Affect Warranty ?

I asked 2 Ford dealers near me about installing a BOLT-IN magnaflow cat-back, and they told me if I so much as touch a nut on that car, the warranty will be void. The other dealer didn't mind so much for the exhaust, but as soon as I mentioned lowering the car 1.5 inches, he totally changed his tune. It really sucks because I want to install my x-pipe and cat-back, and i was doing some research into a 70mm TB.... I guess i'll hafta take my chances with the dealer!

The guy who sold me the car (not the guys out back in the shop) said that it is ok. I hope this falls through, but I am concerned.

Unfortunetly, you guys happen to be working with ******* dealerships. Tell them to look up the FEDERAL LAW that was passed. You CAN modify your car, as long as you do not do internal modifications or a blower/nitrous.

The only way they can void your warranty is if they believe the modification you did was the cause of your engine failure, transmission failure or rear-end failure. I'm sure there are more Ford dealerships in your area, get in touch with the service manager and ask them what they think.

i guess that federal law that was mentioned before only applies to the U.S. I have heard stories about a dealer not warrantying a recall on my friend's Sentra because he had installed a cold air intake. Even thought the MAF was recalled, they wouldn't change it for him because of the intake! I guess it depends on where you go!!

Damn. It really does depend on where you go, and the dealerships know most people aren't going to hire a lawyer to solve the matter either...

I have FRPP headers, Magnaflow exhaust, upgraded MAF...etc and my bottom end in my 02 GT blew up andFord replaced it, no questions asked.

IF YOU GOT TO THE VORTECH SUPERCHARGER WEB SITE. AND THERE IS A LEGAL PAPER YOU CAN PRINT OUT. AND IT SAYS THAT NO MOD. CAN VOID YOUR WARRENTY, USELESS THEY CAN PROVE THAT, THAT IS WHAT CAUSED TO PROBLEM.
