Battery Light
Hey!
I just found this site! Can anyone tell me why my battery light comes on briefly while I'm driving, then goes off? It's happened twice. The battery is new (less than 2 months old), and I wouldn't guess the alternator (stock) because no lights are dim or anything like that.
I hope I posted this in the right place. Sorry if I didn't, but I'd sure appreciate some input.

Check the battery connections to see if they are tight or have any corrosion on them. Also check the alternator connections. The battery is primarily used for starting the car. The alternator keeps the car running. Most auto parts stores will check your alternator and battery for free. Call ahead of course.
Might also be worth finding out if you have any codes. Most auto parts stores will rent you the code reader and give you your money back when you return it (net cost = $0).
Good luck...

I had this happen in my 95 (it has the original alt.). I replaced the serpentine belt with a new one, and because it wasn't "stretched out" yet, it made the alternator light pop on occasionally. It finally quit, but I had my alternator tested anyway, and it's only putting out 70 amps (it's rated at 130). It's been fine for summer driving, but come winter I will have to replace it.
Like the others said, first thing is remove and clean your battery posts and your cable connections, won't believe the problems I'd corrected over the years by doing that. If that doesn't cure the problem, have the alternator checked for max output.
I went and checked, and both battery and alternator were fine. Yet, the FIRST thing the mechanic said as he opened the hood was "Well, first I'd clean up these terminals and connections. They're not all corroded, but that might be your problem."
Thanks you guys that responded, and double thanks for making me aware of the terminals/connections. I thought they were fine unless you saw major corrosion.

I Recently had to replace my negative terminal connector. That solved my battery issue..
The terminal connector was in purdy bad shape..

im envious of your warning...my alt went out all of a sudden one day on the way to work with no light or warning.... only warning i got was aftermarket amplifiers beginning to distort and radar detector showing low voltage.... charge light never came on even though i drove it till battery completely died (trying to get home and avoid towing)
