Default Convertible Top Switch

Hello folks. The convertible top on my 2001 Mustang GT has started working intermittenly. When it does not work, I do not hear anything so I am thinking it is the switch or the relays. I would like to start by check out the switch based on the repair manual pages that some members have shared however I am having a tough time removing the switch. Does any one have insights they can share?

Thanks- Gary

i was having the same problem. does your ebrake light illuminate on the dash every time the handle is lifted? My top swtich wouldnt work because my ebrake sensor was sticking in the off position and the top requires the ebrake to be on.

Ryan- thanks for the post. Let me see if I can correlate the light switch not displaying to the top not operating. How did you end up fixing the ebrake sensor?

turns out there is a correlation between the "brake" light and the top switch not working. Does anyone have any thoughts on where I start with the repair? I know there is a connection to the e-brake being engaged and powering the relay. I am figuring I need to fix the e-brake sensor but not sure how to access it. Thanks.

what i did was take the console off and there is a little push button type of thing at the base of the ebrake handle that triggers the brake light. it is like a metal pin in a plastic tube and it was sticking. just make sure there isnt anything catching the pin, and also you can spray a little wd-40 down there to help lubricate it.
