Hi folks, New to the forum. I purchased my son a 1997 Mustang and it came with only one remote for the doors and alarm. I order a couple of new ones and when they came in I called the local Ford dealer to see about programing. He said bring them out and no charge to make them work.

Unfortunately the car must not have had factory electric locks. There is no switch on the door panel for the locks and not connection port in the trunk. The remove arms the alarm when the lock button is pressed.

I am afraid that if the young one loses the remote we are screwed with the alarm on. Any ideas/?????

 

The alarm should be deactivatable
by inserting the ignition key
and turning it to the run position.
If its worth its weight is grains of salt.
If not, remove it ASAP.
Problem solved.

 

Thanks, I will try that. I can get keys so an extra one is in order.

 

Tried that attack and the key doesn't deactivate. I am going to look for the control today and see if I can figure out who is the manufacture of the system.
