Squeaky Brakes

Squeaky Brakes
How do I fix them? It bugs the hell out of me having a part of my baby that isn't perfect lol. Not every time, but on a semi-regular occasion, when breaking for a speed bump/stop sign/light/what have you...they will let out an awful high pitched squeak. It really makes my car seem less nice than it is =/

How old are your pads? You should take your pads off and inspect them, rough them up a bit with a light grit sand paper and clean/inspect your rotors for any damage or uneven wearing.
Shouldnt take more than an hour or two.

I'm guessing they are original brakepads, I have almost the exact same mileage as you and I just changed mine out last weekend. Its a good thing to do, it'll likely solve your problem and be good for another 30,000+ miles. I think it costed like 200 bucks including parts, grease and brake cleaner to do it myself.

just to let you know, buy OE parts, especially the pads. our shop we deal with car quest. did a brake job on a gt mustang on the rear because of squeek. took .003 off the rotors, used the premium pad that car quest offers. came back twice, tried new pads twice, then service writer finally decided to order some OE pads like i asked for the last time it came back. havent seen it since. my 06 squeeks from the rear sometimes. the last owner swapped on some autozone pads on the rear. not all the time, mostly when cold, but i can still hear it.
cliff notes..
buy motorcraft pads.

Something else to check...Look at the clips holding the pads on. If there is a crack in the clip, it could cause the whole pad to vibrate and squeak. I'm having the same issue, but I haven't had time to pull them off and check.

Haha you can try to clean your rotors with brake cleaner but I assume your pads are worn and glazed and need to be roughed up or better yet replaced. Read through some how to's and go on youtube and watch some videos and tackle it! It always feels rewarding.
You only need
New Pads
Brake Cleaner
Brake Grease
Threadlock (blue stuff)
12-14mm sockets
6 Inch C-Clamp
Rear-Brake Compression Tool (Rent at an autostore)
