Default C4 Tranny question.

Well I took my girlfriend to sheetz to get some pop last night. The car reversed out of the parking space as normal. When I got home I went to back the car into reverse and I couldnt get it into reverse. My drive positions are P,R,N,D,D2,D1.... So when I put the car in park... Its normal. Reverse seems to be Neutral and Neutral seems to be drive. So im a little thrown off. Any help on what it could be or how to fix it would be great.

Sounds like possibly the shifter location plate shifted? Try moving the plate that says P R N D on it, it could have slipped down, pretty sure a tranny can't change a shift pattern like that just on its own.

No, I think you misunderstand. Park is normal.... Reverse acts like park... and Neutral acts like drive. If the the shift plate moved.... I'd still have a reverse. At least I think I would.

Hmm, not too sure then. I would first think linkage for reverse, sounds like your transmission is skipping reverse all together. Either that or your shifter isn't able to engage the different gears properly. Were you banging on the shifter by chance? Racing on the way home?
