Default Buying a home, garage questions.

Hey all, it's been a while and I've sold my '01 Cobra. Lots have changed since I had it and I've been riding the bus for a long time now.

I'll be buying me a 03/04 Cobra and going to need a nice size garage. I don't plan on having much kept in there other than a little storage and a big tool chest. Any recommendations here as to how much room I should be looking for? Should I be putting anything down on concrete for spills?

Any recommendations on buying tools? Brands, what chest, etc..

I'm coming from living in an apartment the past 6 years so it's all going to be new to me. I haven't had tools or a garage since I was back in Detroit living with moms.

They make quite a few accessories that you can buy for your garage nowadays. They have the raced inspired tile that you can lay out and it looks pretty cool. Just do a search on google for "Garage floors" and you should find something you like.

As for size you can never have enough room. Try to get the biggest garage you can. If you do not have a out building on the property, you will be putting your lawn mower, yard tools etc.. in there. Then there is the rest of the stuff from the house, paint, etc.. Like Armystrongmach1 said they make a lot of storage accessories now a days. Tool boxes are like the garage where you can never have enough room. You will accumulate tools over time, so get one that has a lot of storage. Now you do not need to buy a expensive tool box,so look at places like Harbor Freight. Whatever tools you buy, make sure they have a lifetime warranty. And since this is your first home my best advice to you is, buy something you can afford and not what the bank says you can afford.

Well, even a small garage is better than no garage, but like others have said....you're never going to have too much room. My two stall garage is about perfect size for working on ONE car. The only downside to having too big a garage is having to heat it in the winter.

Bigger is always better, but even a small 2 car can easily house your car and good selection of tools. Harbor Freight is a good place to shop for tool chests, but their tools can be a bit on the cheap side for quality. A starter set from Craftsman would be a better choice.

As for the floor... here's a thread I posted on another forum about finishing my garage and epoxying the floors. Once you have a garage with finished floors, you will never want one without it! Man Cave
