Honestly why would you want a 96 cobra motor in it??Those motors suck IMO my best friend has a 96 cobra saleen and the motor sucks they have no aftermarket parts for it cause there was only a couple of years of it so its very hard to find parts for it and its slow on top of all that.I would put a 03-04 motor in it if your going to go threw all that .But to each his own

RE: cobra motor in a 96 gt
well i need a new motor soon and i figured if i would get a cobra instead of a gt, for a few more horse. i'm also not sure how an 03 r 04 cobra would bolt up. i mean no **** i'd like 390hp, but what would all have to be changed to put an 03 cobra motor in a 96 gt?

RE: cobra motor in a 96 gt
you should have no problems, its still the same block and if ur gonna swap a motor not matter what motor u change to if u go from an older year to newer year motor or vise versa, your going to need a few changes maybe as simple as extensions on your factory harness but id take the little extra trouble and go with an 03 cobra motor, and yes the 96 cobra motor isnt that great, you can alway just rebuind ur 96 gt motor, bore, heads, cam and u got a pretty good motor

RE: cobra motor in a 96 gt
hey thanks alot. one more question that I was mostly concerned about. with an 03 motor and tranny swap, would that tranny hook right up to the driveshaft or would there be any modifications needed?
