I noticed a lot of people have their mods put on by a shop. I'm old school and try to do do everythign my self (well havnt' done anything to the Stang yet but I will )

I have built cars from pretty much the frame up and have rebuilt engines and trannys, but now I would have the engine and tranny redone by a shop if I had to have it redoen, but I would r and r it myself. Goint ot have someone else do the gears. Going to do most of the myself.

Just curious to what everone else does.

When I was in high school we had auto shop as a elective and BOCES available as well (BOCES us a skilled trade program offered to high school kids and have programs like auto tech, cooking, carpentry, nursing, for lpn's not RN's and a few other things) I dont't hisn too many schools have that anymore.

A lot of people do it here...

I did everything myself besides rebuild the motor in my 88 Iroc-z. I work on race cars also...

But, I'm not going to lift a wrench for my 02 GT. It's a PITA on street cars and I don't have the patience for it.

I will do everything that I can do myself... there are certain things that I just can't do... port and polish, fabricate speakers, fabricate plastic components, paint the damn thing, etc... I guarantee that the 7 people that voted above need someone else to do some things... no one can do everything unless they have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Used to do everything, but now I'm old and have no garage. Still do the oil, put in the new radiator and stat, did the alternator upgrade and the electric fan. But I'm getting heads, intake and a custom ed curtis cam that will be installed by my machine shop. These guys have worked for me for years and they know what they're doing, never had a problem. There are some things we wish we could still do, but due to various problems, it becomes impossible. It's not a matter of "not having a clue" as much as having too many surgeries. To you young guys, get as much hands on experience as you can, and you'll enjoy this hobby for many years.

I do everything myself...... Motor, interior, and bodywork.....

I don't really have a choice in the matter though my car is so low to the ground I barely have enough clearence to get up my driveway so putting it up on a lift for someone to work on it forget it!!!!!! Plus when I was younger I didn't know the things I know today and man people have no respect for your ride..... First bodyshop it went to the owners daughter was caught cruisin my car around, that *****..... First Transmission shop my windshield came back all busted, looks like someone had shot a socket in the air and guess where it landed.....And chrome wheels vs tire technician OMG!!!!! How many trys does it take to get it in the hole???????????

I do what I can myself, and when I can't, I get my bro to help out, he's a mechanic/welder.
