Installing shifter on TR-3650
I'll be installing MGW shifter. When I remove my old shifter and ready to get rid of old silicon, should I plug the whole with paper towels or anything? When I have everything removed should I add trans fluid? What kind, and how much? I called MGW and they actually said unless the level is low add some or follow the owner's manual, and I hear this talk about adding fluid while the shifter is out.
Once I have my stock shifter out, how to store it so it don't get damaged? How much will it be worth if I resell it?

Keep stuff from falling into the trans but after you get it opened up you'll see theres nowhere for it to go.You can drain the old fluid out the drain hole in the bottom and it's a LOT easier to replace the fluid through the top than trying to get it in through the fill hole in the side.I used Redline synthetic and it works very well.As far as storing the old shifter just put it in the box the new one came in and it'll be fine.I don't know if you must cut the old shifter boot to install the MGW shifter but my Pro 5.0 required this.I would suggest buying a new replacement boot from Ford to use if you have any tranny trouble later. This way you can reinstall the old shifter boot along with the old shifter and avoid any consequences that might come with an aftermarket shifter.Call me paranoid but have someone else buy this because the customer name goes into a database and if your name comes up in connection with a replacement shifter boot there might be questions.I don't think there's much of a market for stock shifters other than for people trying to get warranty work done.
