options for increased horsepower
I hav a 2010 mustang gt. i was going to get it either turbocharged or supercharged but everywhere i go mentions a decrease in engine life. i was wondering if this decrease is significant and if so can it be limited with low boost pressures. if not wat would be the best way to increase hp while not decreasing engine life significantly?
thanks for your suggestions

The higher boost you run the harder it is on engine components. There are vehicles that come stock with turbochargers and superchargers though, obviously. If properly maintained and not beaten 24/7 your car should last with a decent supercharger.
I'm curious as to how many miles you have on the car now? Also, I don't know the compression ratios on the 2010 engines, if they're 9.5-10:1 or over you probably can't safely run much more than 5-6 pounds of boost without rotating assembly modification. Also, you want to make sure your seals and fastening hardware are top notch and in perfect condition before you add forced induction to an engine.
CAI, handheld tuners, and exhaust mods are all very common modifications guys do to their cars rather than going as in depth as putting forced induction on. Also won't hurt your wallet as much either.
If you're going to be putting some serious power to the car, you're going to want to explore options of beefing up other parts of the car as well, such as your rear gear ratio, possibly stickier tires, and maybe some type of performance suspension mods. A car isn't any good if you're pushing 400 HP at the tires, but all they're doing is making smoke!

i have about 38k miles on it, and the guy i bought it from put in the lower gear ratio and performance tires, and i think he put in some suspension stuff but id have to double check. As for the compression ratio i would have to find that out. And if i were to go with a handheld tuner or chip or something like that, do u know what kind of power gain i could get with it?
thanks, im just kinda new to this and wanted to find out what some of my options are before i start doing anything to my car.
