Default 5.0 or S197 GT500?

I am an Electrical Engineer and I have gotten tired of playing around with my little 4 cylinder turbo car. I have dropped quite a bit of money to the so-called most "reputable" shop for my car with a fully built block, big turbo, etc., made some great numbers that would put a lot of cars to shame and the car just kept breaking...but lets just face it...its not a mustang and I've always been a die hard ford fan ever since my 1st car which was a 1979 "Mint" Ranchero GT and my dads old F-150 pickup with a mildly built 351w. So I have decided to trade the car in on a mustang and lose my *** on the modifications done to it, I can pick up a used 08-10 GT500 for around 35-38k with around 10k miles on it and throw a larger whipple on it for good power and later drop a built block in it...or should I get a new '13 or slightly used 5.0 for 3-6k less and drop a built block and roots supercharger kit in it. I know both are pretty good powerplants, I was just wondering which would be better as far as money to power, or rather reliability to power. I know I like the new body styles for 2013 as well as the 2010-2012 styling(still think the 2013's look a little better). I have put quite a bit of money under the hood of my little cobalt so I am not someone talking out my rear. I just want something newer that I could drive to work if I wanted to and make around 750-800 at the wheels on the weekends reliably. A few people locally to me are putting down between 700-1000 whp on their C6 vettes so I'd like to be a challenge for them. I have researched a lot on both platforms and many people are very controversial over each one. I would get a 2013 GT500 but the markup is ridiculous right now and if I could get one for MSRP I'd be all over it. So here's the dreaded decision...an S197 GT500 or a new Coyote 5.0...help me out here guys...

Theres absolutely no such thing as "Markup" on cars, it's absolute BS. Never take a sellers word for something like that. It's a buyers market today. We are in a economic slowdown and car sales are bad, so bull****! ..go to another dealer!

@ MMR. For most cars that is true, but the GT500 market is very different. Have you looked into ordering one? The dealership I used to work for was the #1 GT500 dealer in the nation last year. They might work with you, but they are in Ohio.

Prefer the 07 body style. Get a GT/CS and drop a Coyote engine it and work from there

I just went by the dealer I recently bought a GT from and they had a GT500 on the floor, 15000 local adjustment over msrp. Made the car 82K. Crazy. I would get the boss and drop a S/C in it. Why the boss? internals are different from the GT and are forged rods and pistons. Added cooling and oil cooler. Takes alot of the extra expense out of adding a S/C to the car. That and the suspension and rear end are built up from the base GT. Boss can be had a lot cheaper than the GT500 and then ya just add the S/C and will pretty much have the GT500 w/o the markup.
