Default Carpet & Upholstery Question

What is a fair price to pay for someone to take care of carpet and upholstery installation in my 66 Mustang Coupe? I have already bought a "mass back" carpet kit molded to fit and I have new upholstery seat covers for 2 buckets and a bench along with seat foam. I just need a guy to install all of it so it's done properly. So it would consist of removing the old carpet, installing the new carpet, removing the seats and doing the reupholstery work. One quote I got from a guy who looked my car over is around $900. He charges $45/hour so if you calculate that out, that's 20 hours of labor. Is this legitimate? I thought that was pretty high but I have never done this before. Can you pros give me some ideas....just wanna make sure I'm not getting screwed. Thanks so much!

Wow, that's a lot of dough, I'm not sure of thats a fair price or not but if the carpet is pre molded that can't be to hard to install yourself and have him just do the seats, you could take him the seats while you do the carpet.

BabyGT, thanks for your feedback. I think you might be on to something. Maybe I'll take out the seats and have him do all that and attempt the carpet myself. If I get stuck, then I can always have him finish it off. I like it!

I installed a premolded carpet in my Camaro over a weekend. It was super easy once you remove the seats and console. Summit racing had great deals carpet with tons of different colors. I believe I got mine for a little over $150

Pretty much fell right into place and used some 3G glue to attach it

found a new guy to take care of all of it.....taking out seats, taking out carpet, putting in new carpet, doing new upholstery on the seats, and putting it all back together fo r$600. I feel better about that one!
