Royal Purple Synthetic Dyno'd
On HotRod TV (Outdoor channel) this weekend they took a 2005 Mustang GT and dyno'd it stock 3 times and then they changed the oil in the Engine, Tranny & Differential to Royal Purple and re dyno'd it 3 more times and here are the results:
Stock with Factory Oil Specifications:
Average of 3 runs: 264 RWHP
Best of 3 runs: 266.94 RWHP
Stock with Royal Purple Oil:
Average of 3 runs: 268 RWHP
Best of 3 runs: 270 RWHP
Not bad for just an oil change... I run Amsoil myself.
Hhhmmm I want an additional 5 RWHP should I get a Catback System or an Oil Change???

I have seen them change engine, tranny, and rear to get 10 rear wheel HP. I do it in all my vehicles now. The cheapest and easiest HP you can get, not to mention, the extra protection.

Dunno about 'purple' but I used Castrol Syntec years ago in my old drag car. Car picked up about .05 consistently in 1/4....
With the wieght of car, 3200 or so so that had to be about 10 HP.......

I had a guy who works on most of the racing trannys around here tell me that he was seeing unusual wear on the gears of cars where they had put in royal purple. I dunno. It's only one guy.

I use Royal Purple myself and am very pleased with its performance. Tops in oil pressure all the time. Royal Purple's 5W30 has the film strength of a typical 10W30. No burning or squirting the oil out the pipes either. Good stuff! Until the end of September Pep Boys has a $1 off all Royal Purple oil at just $4.99 a quart. Their usual price is $5.99. I think you will need a coupon from one of their flyers to get the discount. If you bitch a little, I am sure you will still get the discount or at least a flyer with the coupon in it. Most of the mail order Mustang parts stores also carry Royal Purple. Check these two:

PS: JC Whitney also carries Royal Purple.

Well, I am almost at 10,000 miles now on my car and have researched at the local speed shop, they say most of the synthetics should give you similar results. But for some reason most of the "big boys" run Torco. So when I change all my oils out in a week or two I am switching to Torco. Who knows if it will help, but it does have a very good reputation.
